About John Lucker

I'm a software engineer with prior experience in retirement consulting, and benefits outsourcing. I have always been drawn to subjects with logical processing like mathematics, statistics, and physics. I learn quickly, and have strong leadership experience. I have a passion for process improvement, and I am yellow-belt certified in Lean Six Sigma. After successfully completing my Software Engineering Immersive, I am looking to bring my skills to an innovative company where I can develop my skills as software engineer. In college I got my first exposure to computer science as a part of my Actuarial Mathematics degree. In my career working in Retirement Consulting and then Retirement Benefit Administration, I consistently found that the part of my job I enjoyed the most was when I got to code. Whether it was writing SQL queries, doing data analysis, or writing Excel macros; I enjoyed looking at a problem, writing code to solve the problem, and often automating the process. I have since pursued that passion by taking part in General Assembly's Software Engineering Immersive Program, where I learned to build full stack web applications from start to finish. I'm looking forward to continuing to learn and grow as a Software Engineer.
