About John M. McGranaghan

As the Assistant Director of Career Development at Villanova University, I provide personalized career counseling to over 800 students each year, helping them navigate resumes, cover letters, job and internship searches, personal statements, and more. I specialize in pre-health advising and also serve as the Career Center liaison to Villanova’s Office of Disability Services, Learning Support Services, and Athletics Department. My background includes a Master’s in Counseling with a focus on school counseling, and I bring that training into every student interaction—meeting them where they are, and supporting them holistically through academic, professional, and personal development. Before joining Villanova full time, I gained experience as a graduate advisor in the Career Center and completed school counseling internships at the elementary and high school levels. I’ve also coached high school athletics for several years, which has deepened my understanding of mentorship, leadership, and how to support students in reaching their potential. I'm passionate about creating inclusive, student-centered spaces while helping them build confidence in their career paths. Whether it's guiding a pre-med student through their personal statement or supporting a first-year student figuring out their major, I love the process of helping people grow into their next chapter.
