About John Marcantonio

John Marcantonio is currently Technology Director at CCD Partners. He was previously Chief Chemicals Advisor at KBR Downstream - a company within KBR's innovation, value stream mapping and business management until December 2020. Previously he held techno-commercial director positions at BRG/IAL Consultants, Tecnon OrbiChem, Arkchem and a GROUP Manager position at Jacobs Consultancy. He advises industrial companies and financial institutions; supporting project development, pre-FEED, technology evaluation, market strategy and LTC and LMC activities, drawing on 35 years of experience in the chemicals and allied process industries to assist clients with recession beating strategies; cash - coordination and project completions. He is an R&D and industrial innovation expert having studied at SPRU. He supports a number of research institutes in their global activities in the innovation, marketing and commercial developments for the petrochemicals and polymers industries in acheiving Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). Latest bio based strategy projects include topics such as benchmarking of hydrogen, ammonia, cracker operations, cluster investments, SAP/GAA, and most recently on sustainability (including CO2 monetization, innovative raw materials - FCDA, isosorbide, algae, biosuccinic acid, citric acid, levulinic acid, soy polyols and bioethanol to ethylene). He continues to develop his interests in plastics recycling, composites and polymer activities, such as MMA/PMMA, acrylic acid/acrylates/SAP, polycarbonates, VAM, anhydrides and also matrices for composites and the technical fibres e.g. basalt fibres, PAN and pitch carbon fibre, graphene and graphite, ceramic fibres. He is currently working on speciality metals for catalysts including caesium, lithium and the commercialisation of rare earth oxides in NAFTA, Asia, Europe, LATAM, The Middle East and Africa. Since 2020 he is has been advising on trade deals in the Post-Brexit FDI arena, as well as climate change, rare earth metals and oxides, solar, silicones, salt,chlor-alkali, fluoropolymer, higher nylons, PPS, MDI, PO, MX/PIA, PTA/PET, BMI, liquid crystals, monochloroacetic acid, formic acid, ammonia, LNG and the syngas chains. He is a plastic recycling subject matter expert (SME) and is developing market entry strategies for recycled plastics (e.g. PMMA, PA 6 and EPS) in large scale additive 3D printed parts and more traditional polymers, such as PVC and its supply chains e.g. chlorine, H2 and formulated products.
