About John Mark Dunn

Extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), as well as teacher training, and teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. Five years experience as the curriculum coordinator of (and cross-cultural liaison for) a secondary school ESL program in Japan, three years experience (co-) coordinating teaching practicums at Northern Arizona University's College of Education (NAU COE). Currently completing a doctorate in education (EdD) through NAU COE with a dissertation focus on English writing by English language learners in elementary schools. The adequate education of ALL our nation's children is fundamental to their ability to participate in - and thereby constitute - a democratic society. Interests include language education for children, education for cross-cultural understanding and tolerance, language policy, Native American language revitalization, and experiential education.
