Experienced applied researcher, geographic information system (GIS) analyst, and program manager with an emphasis on cartography, other visual methods of data analysis, crime analysis, and data quality assurance. Understands and applies parametric and non-parametric statistical tests for hypothesis testing as well as the use of exploratory data analysis for hypothesis generation and model specification. Have applied these deductive and inductive research approaches across a variety of criminal justice, public safety, and social science domains. Knowledgeable and experienced in using primary and secondary/administrative data sources to perform objective, verifiable, and replicable program research and evaluation, including quasi-experimental, longitudinal, survey, case study, and event history approaches. Specific research topic areas include place-based, person-based, and ecological risk assessments; strategic allocation of operational resources and capabilities to areas of need (though use of GIS); public health approaches to violence (applications of epidemiology); systems approaches; social network analysis; interdisciplinary approaches to research, evaluation, and problem-solving; and recidivism studies. Extensive experience as a grant writer, grant reviewer, and contributor to the development of federal government grant solicitation and application programs.
