Hello, I'm John Marquez, a dedicated Learning Specialist and MSW (Master of Social Work) with a passion for empowering students at CSU Northridge's Matador Achievement Center. With over a decade of experience in education and social work, I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. My journey in education began with a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of learning. After completing my Master's in Social Work, I focused my career on helping students overcome academic challenges and achieve their full potential. At the Matador Achievement Center, I work closely with students, providing personalized support tailored to their unique learning needs. My approach blends evidence-based strategies with empathy and understanding, recognizing the diverse backgrounds and learning styles of our student body. Whether it's developing study skills, navigating academic obstacles, or addressing personal challenges that impact learning, I am dedicated to guiding students towards success. Beyond my role as a Learning Specialist, I am actively involved in campus initiatives promoting equity and accessibility in education. I collaborate with faculty and staff to create inclusive learning environments and advocate for policies that support student well-being and academic achievement. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking in the beautiful landscapes of Southern California with my dog and volunteering with local youth organizations. I love to read and enjoy gardening as well, relaxation and self-care are an integral part of my daily process. These experiences continually inspire my work and reinforce my commitment to empowering students to reach their educational goals. I am honored to be part of the CSU Northridge community, where I contribute to shaping future leaders and making a positive impact in students' lives every day.
