Notable impacts:Led the evolution of 2 treasury departments: Evolved MEG’s team operationally and culturally as the organization rightsized itself and the team decreased by 40% Managed CNRL’s Treasury team during years of significant production growth from 390kbpd to ~900kbpd and the team grew from 4 to 13 to deal with increased transaction volumes, complexity and regulatory requirementsSetup a commodity derivatives hedging program (MEG) from the ground up and executed WTI, WCS and C5 hedges (swaps, options) to underpin future cashflow to, in part, fund a planned 25% production increaseNegotiated and managed all aspects of the setup of a US$1.5b commercial paper program, diversifying liquidity sources and decrease borrowing costs (first year savings ~$4mil) Proactive short term debt management to take advantage of a US$ interest rate arbitrage to minimize interest expense (first year savings ~$3mil)Executed, participated in or managed the execution of: C$3.2b and US$9.8b of public and private debt issuances with terms of 2 to 31 years Interest rate hedges: cross currency swaps US$2.9b and fixed to floating swaps US$900m up to 30 years
