About John McGraw

My careers have been diverse and eclectic. In addition to my three main positions, I've been a SCUBA divemaster, a carpenter and remodeler, worked in the Child Support Enforcement Division for the state of Idaho, and been a barista for Starbucks. At ASM, I am in charge of database management, design, development and analysis for two projects. These are mathematical models used to project and analyze manpower/training needs for a branch of the DoD. I help manage ASM's incorporation of Tableau to provide cutting-edge graphical representations of big data including management and development of our data warehouse. My expertise includes mathematics, statistics, data analysis, forecasting, and soundness of project solutions. I provide writing, analysis, and expert advice for proposals and other projects. I have a worldwide and varied background as a university educator. At Oregon State I was the author of the published study guides for the engineering calculus sequence, and I received the William F. Burger Teaching Award. At Virginia Tech, I created a web-based differential equations curriculum using Matlab for numerical analysis of differential equations. As part of my statistical work, I developed a new method for identifying specific groups of high dimensional frequency response data. I was a contributing writer for applied mathematics grants and proposals. At Union Pacific I supervised train handling and personnel from point-to-point under adverse time and weather conditions. I provided timely pickup and delivery of commodities without delaying other railroad traffic, ensured smooth train operations when faced with daily personnel and daily work-assignment changes, productively reacted to an ever-changing operation environment and proactively worked to anticipate changes. I regularly maintained a readiness to report for duty 24 hours-a-day in an “on-call” capacity. I am world-traveled, have lived in Germany, and currently own a house in Southern France.
