About John McKenzie

You don't get to be the sole IT Director at a standout regional design firm without having at least a few billable talents on the side. I came up as an old school production director, obsessing over optically centering type, getting Photoshop files to hit the right numbers in CMYK, and ensuring design element consistency across whole brand families. Over the years, my responsibilities shifted to have more of an IT focus, including safeguarding hundreds of terabytes of design files, supporting the delivery of color-accurate design intent proofs, coordinating hardware and software rollouts across offices from Asia to the US to Europe, and supervising QA and adaptation staff. Currently I select, architect, and administer software platforms from Office to Mural to Slack to chatGPT to whatever else a creative might need to make the next new thing happen. But, if someone needs me to shoot and retouch some product and drop it into a layout, I am super happy to keep my hand in that as well — because billable work is always welcome.
