About John Mick Robbins

Enzymes are natural catalysts with great economic potential in terms of patent ability. My work involves the design of enzyme based systems to eliminate harmful waste byproducts and reduce production costs of various chemical and pharmaceutical processes. If you use enzymes instead of hazardous traditional methods involved in the production of various chemicals and pharmaceuticals, then you promote lower consumer prices, higher profitability, healthier people, and a cleaner safer environment. My career goal is to work on the forefront of patent able enzyme technology by developing a deep understanding of both state of the art research and patent law. Formal education is in chemistry and biochemistry. Upon receiving a B.S. in Chemistry from Hampden-Sydney College in 2007 followed by a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Auburn University in 2012, I joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Georgia Institute of Technology to work with Dr. Andreas Bommarius as a postdoctoral research fellow. I currently work on a confidential industry sponsored biomolecular engineering project with the goal of developing unprecedented form of enzyme technology for a well known chemical manufacturer. I have applied skills learned in family business towards lab management, group management, and time management. Lab experience has translated to family business skills in the form of record keeping, analytical problem solving, standard protocol development and implementation, and workforce training.
