MANAGEMENT and COACHING * I have successfully managed metal fabrication and machine shops ranging from 2 to 125 employees.* I put a lot of effort into developing employees who have potential and drive. I have cross trained employees to fill occasional or unexpected gaps and have coached Janitors into Lead Set-up Machinists. Succession Planning is key.* I have created business cases and secured budgets for equipment that increased throughput, reduced lead-times and reduced overall operating costs. LEAN MANUFACTURING * Finding, often, creative solutions to problems by mapping out processes and forming collaborative cross functional teams.* Using Lean Manufacturing methodologies, I have led initiatives to find and remove non-value added activities. Resulting in lead-time reductions, part processing time reductions, and more efficient end to end throughput. PROCESS - CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT * If we are not continuously improving we are stagnate and the world will pass us by. I stay on top of trends and new technologies, always looking for ways to incorporate or adapt those concepts into the current processes in place.* With the advancements in cutting tool technologies, I started purchasing advanced consumable tools with a purchase price that are sometimes 3x -4x the cost of conventional tooling. The advanced tooling lasted 5x longer and we saw up to 60% increase in efficiency.* I am always on the lookout how to streamline processes and remove roadblocks. I drove initiatives to streamline throughput by standardizing order input, flexible scheduling to quickly meet the demands of customer priorities and training for employees.
