A graduate of Sheffield University, I work as an NHS GP as well as within the private sector with expertise in weight loss medicine, facial aesthetics and medical education. I am a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine and am Clinical Director of Bucket and Sponge Medical Services, providing private, elite Sports Medicine services to individuals, teams and organisations at both amateur and professional levels. The ethos underlying all of my clinical practice is that I work towards raising the profile of physical activity for the prevention, treatment and management of long-term conditions. The innovative model in exercise on prescription held in-house at my Medical Centre has received national recognition. My research interests include programme evaluations in order to inform policy and practice within primary care exercise referral schemes, sudden cardiac death and the management of concussion within rugby. Experienced in the sporting environment, as a former Rugby Union player, I fulfil the role of doctor to Orrell, Lancashire and to the Ireland National Rugby League team. My roles involve managing on field emergencies, treating injuries, as well as looking after the general health needs of the players including pre-participation screening. I also provide value for money Driving Medicals (form D4 – HGV, LGV, PSV and taxi medicals) for national businesses and individuals. I am available throughout the North West and can provide a fully mobile service to suit requirements.
