About John Murgatroyd

Entered the US Navy in June 1975 from the great state of NJ, into the Advanced Electronics Field. My 27 year Naval Career consists of 7 years experience as an Instructor (39A 3-D Radar Ops and Maint, AEGIS Officer Ops) where I earned Master Training Specialist both tours, served on 6 Ships, Combat Experience includes Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Split career: 14 years enlisted (attained Senior Chief Fire Controlman) 13 years Limited Duty Officer (6180 designator, LCDR). Experienced Tactician. Most exciting position held was when I served as the Executive Officer of the Surface Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island Virginia Strangest experience was serving on USS Wasp LHD 1. After so many years in the Cruiser/Destroyer Navy (CRUDES), to serve in C4I on a "Gator" was "different" to say the least. Life as a contractor (more than 20 years) has been very rewarding. I think back of the times when I cursed the Engineers that designed the systems I had to operate and or maintain. Now I have direct influence on those designs.
