About John Muriithi

John holds a Doctorate in Business Administration with emphasis on services marketing. John is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor at Riara University, Nairobi, Kenya. Dr Muriithi was CEO of the Mater Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya (2008- 2015) He has taught marketing and change management in executive education and MBA programs at Strathmore Business School since 2009 John has over 25 years’ hands on experience in marketing and management gained in the healthcare and fast moving consumer goods sectors. John joined the Pharmaceutical firm Warner Lambert/Pfizer East Africa in 1987 as marketing assistant to the CEO. Subsequently he worked as head of sales for the Boots Company in Nairobi and regional Marketing Director for Sara Lee (East and Central Africa) Between 2001 and 2004 John served as Chief Executive of SC Johnson East Africa as well as on the management board of SC Johnson sub-Saharan Africa. Between 2006 and 2007, Dr Muriithi undertook several change management and business process improvement consultancies for leading Kenyan organizations including EABL and Nakumatt. John has also served on the Governing Council of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and on the Advisory Board of the Chandaria School of Business (USIU) Nairobi
