As a now 50+ year veteran of the benefits industry people frequently ask me how a “group insurance guy” got so engaged in technology. The reality is that I am NOT a "technology" guy. I am an experienced business professional who understands how to use the latest tools to improve and reinvent business processes and achieve sales results. My passion for decades has been “information logistics” - or creating transactional, information and communication efficiencies between the various constituents in the “employee benefits/health insurance supply chain” – employees, employers, brokers and benefits/healthcare insurers. 22 years ago, In the fall of 1995, after a 17 year career at Unum, I founded Employease, the first true "software as a service" vendor(acquired by ADP in 2006). At that time Red Herring Magazine described me as a “technology geek trapped in a middle aged insurance man's body”. At Employease our sole focus was on solving a basic business problem - managing employee HR, payroll and benefits data, not on building software. For the last 12 years since starting Bentelligence we have hel;ped our clients tame the data and analytics world. Mr. Nail, a Mustang and Shelby car buff and avid golfer, is a Cum Laude graduate of Williams College.
