About John Nelson

In the course of my career, my skills have bounced from the highly technical to project management to executive management and back again, with supervisory roles in between. However, despite all of the changes, I have focused on the Public Sector with a passion for the Health & Human Services areas. I can see the strategic nature by which technology can assist these agencies and I have seen the successes and failures that show how difficult it is to execute on that vision. I have had experience with project/portfolio management, business analysis, application architecture and system design, business management and budgeting, grant management and budgeting, contract management, and sales. In addition, I have technical experience with SQL Server, BizTalk, Virtualization, Cloud Development and Dynamics 365. In all, I can take a system from envisioning to user acceptance, and have done so on several occasions. I have done internal selling of solutions to management, external selling to customers, and broad evangelism for training, adoption and community sharing. Much of my experience has been in or around the healthcare field going back to my work with the Producer Price Index developing pricing models for healthcare industries. My work has been with both the business and information technology sides of government health, with a focus on where government health meets healthcare practice. Because of my background I understand the business, political, and economic incentives/drivers in HHS. My goals are to continue my work with Government Information Technology at the Federal, State and Local levels from either a public or private setting and with an emphasis on adoption and execution of Health and Human Services Solutions.
