About John Nye

With over 16 years of on-the-job experience with Networking, Security, Information Assurance and Management, and have been creating technical and entertaining content for years. I have also spent the last ten or so years increasing my clout as a thought leader, including multiple speaking engagements and articles published. Military Occupational Specialty training in electronics and computer repair. I have passed a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional). I am a Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT) and currently hold the C|EH (Certified Ethical Hacker), E|CSA (EC-Council Certified Security Analyst), CICP (Core Impact Certified Professional), and CompTIA Security+ and Network+ certifications. I completed the contract with the Army in December 2011. After this I enrolled full-time at Bellevue University and completed my Bachelors in Cyber Security in November of 2014. I last worked at IoTSecure as the Sr. Techincal Product Manager, in this role, I helped develop our online presence, and technical documentation and created a YouTube channel for the company. Before that, I was at CynergisTek as Sr. Director of Cybersecurity Research, with my primary duty being to tell the world about Penetration Testing, and anything Cybersecurity-related to help build current services and help develop new ones. Specialties: User education and risk management, Penetration Testing, Information Assurance, DIACAP, Security Auditing, Policy Compliance and Writing, and security analysis.
