About John Onufer

I am a recent graduate from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, and I am currently pursuing my M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at USC. I interned at Hermeus in Atlanta, where I was an Avionics Engineer who worked on a variety of secondary structures to mount different teams components within the aircraft while making sure the structure could support the components, and isolate them from thermals and vibration if necessary. My senior project team placed 2nd in the AIAA regional conference (2023) for an SMA powered hand orthosis we developed. I previously worked at the Rocket Propulsion Lab on campus where we design, fabricate, and launch composite based rockets in house. I have experience in Siemens NX and Teamcenter, modeling components, running FEM on them, and creating GD & T drawings. Additionally, I have also used MATLAB extensively, whether it be in RPL or coursework. I also have experience with CFD and iterative design through 3D printing, SMA GLOVE, or turbine design and analysis. My main interests include design, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and composite structures.
