About John Orme
Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for advocacy, leadership, and education. Working with clients from vulnerable populations who face barriers to accessing healthcare has fueled my desire to pursue advanced research education. I believe that with the right resources, we can address and overcome some of the obstacles related to the social determinants of health in Nova Scotia. I am a cisgender homosexual and a registered nurse working in healthcare. My experience primarily encompasses geriatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, perinatal care, and, most recently, mental health and support for individuals with substance use disorders. Growing up in rural Nova Scotia, I have witnessed how various life factors can significantly influence access to and the quality of care. I am deeply passionate about perinatal health, mental health, and promoting health equity for all diverse populations within our community.
