About John Osgood

I am a hardware and tool nut who also has over twenty years of on-air and technical experience in radio and television. I am also keenly interested in technical writing. I excel at public speaking, as well as explaining complex technical procedures and applications in user-friendly terms. I have also written guides to address hardware, software and file conversion matters. Because of my experience with multiple audio/video platforms, I was frequently consulted by colleagues about such matters. I am also a stickler for detail, proper grammar, and spelling. I was a producer/editor for the Georgia Radio Reading Service (GaRRS), where I edited book readings for air. I also produced programs and promos for air. I am well-versed with Audacity and Adobe Audition. My work at GaRRS was been recognized multiple times by the IAAIS (International Association of Audio Information Services), including the "2014 Program of the Year Award - Consumer Information" for our weekly "Career Corner" program. In addition to my radio experience, I have also operated audio consoles for live and recorded television programs, edited news video, directed news updates and live programs, and other assorted television production duties. I have a strong working knowledge of Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. I am currently working with Adobe Premiere Pro CC. I have also worked with Avid NewsCutter and several tape formats. I was also the webmaster for the Atlanta chapter of MCA-I (Media Communications Association-International) from 2007 until the organization was dissolved in 2016. In addition to posting notices about chapter activities, I also assisted with the transfer of the site to a new hosting service. This included independent research about Dreamweaver, FileZilla, and GoDaddy. The technical, financial, and administrative expertise of other chapter members also proved invaluable.
