About John Otto

John Otto is presently employed as a Power Infrastructure Consultant with the IBM Corporation in Southern California, where he has served for over twenty years consulting to customers in a wide range of industries and computer information disciplines. He specializes in equipping Power systems for PowerVM/VIO virtualization in PowerVC with automated provisioning in an on premise private cloud. He also has extensive background in high availability through the installation and configuration of PowerHA and Spectrum Scale (GPFS) software. John has also worked extensively in backup and recovery implementing and supporting IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli Storage Manager/TSM) in multi-platform environments. John works regularly with IBM Resiliency Services performing disaster recovery test events, executing skills in TSM/DRM, AIX, and NIM. He has performed numerous consulting engagements to assess and review customer environments either to create, improve, or prepare disaster recovery plans, methods and procedures for event execution. John has successfully completed numerous AIX operating system, Spectrum Protect, and other software upgrades and migrations, along with system configurations to support popular databases including Oracle and DB2. He works extensively with Power Virtualization, CPU micro-partitioning and memory sharing, IBM SAN Storage among other disk subsystems, TCP/IP networking and other system critical devices and concepts essential to information technology today.
