About John Peter Didato

John Peter Didato is an award winning director, producer and editor currently working for Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street and many other programs. John has edited the 39th season as well as various segments for the 40th season of Sesame Street including “Mrs. Obama Plants a Garden” featuring First Lady Michelle Obama. John also produces, directs and edits other projects for Sesame Workshop. In addition to Sesame Street, John has edited numerous television shows including Count TV, 3,2,1 Let’s Go, Best Friends, as well as, the pilot episodes of Munchin’ Impossible and Elmo’s Backyard; the first Sesame Street podcasts; the outreach program, Here For You – Helping Children Cope with Serious Illness and the internet video Cookie Monster Should Host Saturday Night Live. John has directed and edited the behind the scenes promo for the broadcast specials: When Families Grieve hosted by Katie Couric, Families Stand Together hosted by Al Roker and Coming Home: Military Families Cope with Change hosted by Queen Latifah and featuring John Mayer. He has also directed a PSA with First Lady Mrs. Laura Bush, her daughters Jenna & Barbara and Kami for Takalani Sesame; and produced, directed and edited videos for the Panwapa launch events which were held in five cities around the world. John has created opening videos for several Sesame Workshop events including the Mosaic Foundation Gala, The Disability Rights Legal Center, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center and The Sandbox Summit. Prior to joining Sesame Workshop, John had produced and directed meeting openers for Pfizer, AstraZeneca, SAP, MasterCard and other Fortune 500 companies; produced runway shows for Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria’s Secret; and produced commercials, videos and television programs for RCA records, CBS and AMC among others. He has interviewed countless dignitaries, celebrities, artists, and CEO’s. His first documentary, Ciao, Sesame Street! was honored to have been selected the winner of the 2019 Russo Brothers Italian American Film Forum. In their announcement, Directors Joe and Anthony Russo stated,"Thank you so much for such a great film, for such amazing work and for finding a way to tell a beautiful narrative about Italian Americans."
