Background has been in technical support my whole career. Degree in Information Systems from UTA. While my focus in school was programming (COBOL/Ideal/SQL), my career choices took me down the technical support route. I started out of college doing Desktop Support at Trammell Crow. I took a new opportunity with Crescent Real Estate as Desktop Support and WAN/LANPBX System Administration. After a couple of corporate office moves, Lucent approached me as they were impressed with my project management, preparation, and attention to detail. I took that offer and became a Small/Midsize Business PM/Analyst. I was responsible for meeting with customers after sales for new installation or moves/add/changes or relocations and gather the technical requirements and manage the project. I also helped other Project Managers with Large Business projects. Unfortunately, after the Lucent/Avaya split of business units, I was laid off. I used my connections with Lucent and BNSF Railway, which was one of the Large Businesses I worked with, and found an opening on their Telecom Helpdesk where we monitored and supported many systems. Within 2 years I was promoted to 2nd level support of these same systems with on-call availability. During that time, BNSF was piloting a new system (HLCS) and it moved from pilot to production deployment without much planning. I was promoted to Engineer level to manage design and implementation as well as 3rd level support and SME. I have walked in to every position with varying levels of experience and excelled. My plan was to retire from BNSF and because my role was very specialized to BNSF only, I did not keep up with IT certifications. I am now working on those. I've fast-tracked and completed the CompTIA A+ on 7/18/19 and Network+ on 8/20/19. BTW, the gap in time from employment was planned. Now, looking for a company that will recognize my years of experience and skills and give me the opportunity to show them what I can do.
