About John Porter

I grew up in Northeast Indiana, and still reside in the area. I attended Purdue Fort Wayne majoring initially in Radiology and realized that it wasn't my cup of tea. I then fell in love with Psycology. After I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I found myself in the social work field and also found out that it wasn't for me. Thankfully, Bowen Center gave me an opportunity in the HR field. I started my journey in HR as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator where I got to help new hires get started at our company. I met a lot of great people and also built great relationships with our leaders at Bowen. Now, since January of 2021, I have been the HRIS Analyst at Bowen. In this position I get to learn new things every day. I got to lead our implementation to a new HR system, UKG. I implemented this from the ground up. I learned and developed new workflows for our entire company. I learned how much I loved helping other people in our organization. I maintain all of our system's workflows and role security. I also found that I love writing reports. I went from barely being able to do data manipulation in Excel to building full reports in UKG's People Analytics. To sum it up, I didn't know what I wanted to do in life until I realized that I love helping people who help people. I like taking big complex problems and simplifying them for everyone.
