Completed a motor mechanic Apprenticeship in the Army, then branched out to Aviation Maintenance and also gained my PPL in 1996. I left the Army after 20 years as a Warrant Officer and an Engine/Airframe and Electrical/Instrument LAME, having conducted numerous overseas deployments to Bougainville, New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Sumatra, where I mainly worked on Hueys, King Airs and Twin Otters. At around this time I became a Commercial Pilot and joined Easternwell Group as a LAME and after 2 years of flying part time in the NT I got my MECIR and began flying King Air 350's and 200's. To date I've been flying with Easternwell single pilot for 5 years and have logged a little over hours on the King Air and about hours total time. I have a very diverse job that I love and can change at a moments notice during the day, anything from having to do an Engine change, to flying out to Alice Springs to deliver a part for a Gas Rig, as well as the normal daily FIFO operations flying to about 20 different places between Toowoomba and Mereenie (near Ayers Rock). Airstrips vary from Sydney International to very isolated dirt strips. A very challenging job in bad weather, but rewarding all the same.
