About John R. Strohmeyer

I guide my clients through the maze of estate planning, tax, and probate law from Houston, Texas. I help my clients leave No Unfinished Business (tm). As the host of the Five Star Counsel® podcast where I try to answer the question "What would a law firm built by the founders of Disney, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and Zappos look like if they'd been lawyers instead?" I don't know, but in each episode we find ways to operationalize better client service based on my first career working with the Four Seasons Hotels. When I'm not practicing law, I spend my time with my wife Emily and our rescued mutts (Griswold, Molly, and Billy), I run marathons (44 as of 1/1/21), and I host the Five Star Counsel (R) podcast to help get lawyers of the client service roller coaster. I’m a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel,*THE* cool kids club for estate planners-there are only 2,500 of us total. And out of the more than lawyers licensed to practice law in Texas, there are only 7,300 who are Board Certified in any field. I’ve gone beyond that to become one of only 70 who is board certified both in Tax Law, and in Estate Planning and Probate Law. After earning my BS in Zoology from the University of Texas at Austin, I spent four years working for the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, primarily as the Night Manager, before beginning my legal education. Among other things, I've run the Boston Marathon, become certified as a home-brewed beer judge, and spent my honeymoon backpacking through Southeast Asia. I have very strong feelings about typography.
