About John Rachkara

With over 12 years of development practice, consulting management, strategy development, and execution of market development in Eastern Africa, I am a Market Systems Development Expert and a Deputy Chief of Party at Mercy Corps. I provide technical and strategic leadership at The Feed the Future Nigeria Rural Resilience Activity, a $49 million initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development, that aims to facilitate economic recovery and growth in the vulnerable, conflict-affected Northeast Nigeria economy. I have a strong analytical mindset and a passion for data-driven decision making. I work with a team of professional business advisors to support private sector actors to identify and innovate business models, products, services, and markets that offer sustainable and inclusive livelihoods and employment opportunities for more than individual participants, including farmers, youth, women, and children. I also support public and private sector actors to mobilize investment for unproven business models and use data to turn insights into action. I am a problem solver, a change driver, and a lifelong learner, who is committed to helping my employer and our beneficiaries achieve their goals.
