Between 2006 & late 2007 I promoted 6 band showcases of popular alternative unsigned bands in London, alongside headline acts. The latter were sourced through booking agents and, in the case of some larger bands, had record deals with independent labels. Some of the unsigned acts got deals as a result of the showcases. One singer got a very good publishing deal with Warner Bros Publishing. This period of promotion followed an extended period of postgraduate study in law and tax, from 2004-2007. Law and tax were chosen to provide additional business and legal skills in conjunction with previous sales and marketing experience with small and medium sized enterprises in London, and past creative development and production work. All was towards creative management and development. In 2008 I returned to university for 1 more additional year of master's study in tax law after the 18 month stint of showcase promotion and in 2009 I took some time out due to personal litigation. I returned to Ireland in December 2012 having been in London for nearly 20 years, and am currently writing a fictional novel after putting on hold the reworking of a completed draft of an autobiographical novel. The latter project was begun while taking some master's level classes in creative writing. The current one is part of the MFA at MMU. I am also currently developing a family property in Ireland. I sold my own apartment in London in 2013 and invested in a small professional live audio system, and in a vehicle. I was, more recently, in addition to developing an autobiographical project, about childhood, working on electronic hip hop and political verses and looking to other forms of electronic music promotion but have scaled back after some energy depleting conflicts with other 'hip hop' artists and other creative entrepreneurs. In plain language this means I have put the brakes on all music promotional projects and am working entirely on editing and writing fiction while completing a new distance learning creative writing MFA. I took an original English degree at Birmingham University over 3 years and spent from 88 to 98 immersed in UK rave culture. After my first degree I worked in nightclubs in London and took a music course in Dublin. I completed my English degree in my mid 20s in London and worked for a literary agent afterwards, while also co promoting a club and focussing on screenwriting. My business, and creative production, and development roles followed on from this period.
