About John Rankin
I am a well known solo guitarist, singer, songwriter, and entertainer. I play a variety of styles, including classical guitar, New Orleans Jazz and Blues, Swing, American Songbook, and most popular music before 1985. I have many acoustic small ensembles, and play corporate events as a background artist, and clubs and festivals as a a foreground listening artist. I have taught classical and jazz guitar, songwriting, music theory, and other subjects for over 30 years at the university level (Loyola New Orleans, Tulane University, University of New Orleans) and privately. My degrees include an MBA in marketing and a MFA in classical guitar, both from Tulane University.
