About John Reinbott

As a conservationist with hands-on experience in the numerous facets that make up the coral restoration field including but not limited to that of in-situ nursery management, scuba related fieldwork, scientific data organization, volunteer/intern coordination, and public outreach I have a thorough understanding of the multidisciplinary approach that is needed to restore our reefs. The valuable information and knowledge that I gained from my year-long internship at the Coral Restoration Foundation allowed me to go off on my own and work with other new nonprofit organizations including that of Marine Conservation Costa Rica. My time with MCCR allowed me to further explore the various interworkings of restoration, establish valuable connections with local communities, and inspire volunteers to take action. The physical act of restoration itself is invaluable to the conservation of coral reef systems but must subsequently be coupled with the act of public outreach and empowerment in order to achieve long-term success. By obtaining my PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification, I am constantly challenged to hone my educational abilities in order to get my students to not only enjoy diving but to care about the various underwater ecosystems around them. In doing so I have created countless ambassadors for our oceans and continue to do so in my current position. After my time abroad in Quepos, I returned to the Florida Keys and am now the Volunteer Coordinator with the Coral Restoration Foundation. My current position involves the direct onboarding, paperwork administration, and subsequent supervision of CRF's team of 200+ volunteers as well as assisting with the management of CRF's Coral Conservation and Reef Restoration Internship Program. I am challenged to create innovative approaches to volunteer/intern management and strive to make these programs the best they possibly can be. Without the hardworking and passionate individuals who make up our volunteer and intern programs, the work we do here as a restoration nonprofit would not be able to be accomplished in the shear capacity that it currently is. As someone who is extremely organized and self-motivated with a strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and proficiency at multi-tasking for maximum output I enjoy working in various settings and constantly challenging myself to learn more. If we are to save our reefs we need people who are willing to try and fail ninety-nine times only to succeed on their hundredth attempt and that is something I look forward to doing.
