About John Ribeiro

My goal is to become a teacher that connects to all students. It is important for me to build trust with the students and provide a classroom environment where they are comfortable and feel safe. The classroom should be a place where a student feels cared for and also challenged. My goal is to challenge all students and bring those in need up to standard. My class will be comfortable, challenging, and a place where all students will be motivated to their best. Growing up and coming out of high school (27 years ago) my dream was to become a teacher. After Merced College I began working and enjoyed making money and put my future teaching career on hold. I then began working at McLane in Merced in 2002. There were opportunities to grow there. After being a team lead for several years, I became a training specialist and went back to college. I graduated from Fresno Pacific in 2018 with a BA in Business Administration. I continued to grow at McLane becoming a department supervisor in several departments, each becoming more challenging. Last year I was promoted to the transportation manager role. Over the years I felt the calling to go back to school and teach. Over the year as the transportation manager, the calling became louder. I'm at a time in my life where I can go back to school and fulfill my dream. I'm looking forward to completing the credential program at National University and get into the classroom. I am currently working for Merced City Schools as an elementary substitute teacher. Working as a substitute teacher and taking classes from National University is preparing me to fulfill my dream of becoming a credentialed teacher.
