Hired in1981 at Howmet Corporation in Whitehall Michigan as a manufacturing engineer for Thermatech Coatings Division. Operation performed a variety of thermal processes for aerospace applications. Processes included pack diffusion coatings, vapor diffusion coating, Chemical Vapor deposition, Electron beam physical vapor deposition and Plasma spray coatings. Support operations included Vacuum heat treating, Platinum plating, Acid strip and etch, high temperature braze and abrasive blasting. Duties included new equipment purchases and installation, tooling design and purchasing, project coordination with facility engineering, plant and work flow layouts. In 1990 I was asked to assume facility engineering responsibility for plant-4 which included the Coating operation and the titanium ingot division. Duties included facility and equipment maintenance as well as project responsibility for both facility and process related projects. I accepted a position as Maintenance and Facility engineering leader for a new investment casting plant under construction in Whitehall. Duties included installation and start-up of all process equipment and start-up of facility equipment. I have remained in this role coordinating day to day maintenance and facility engineering functions including several capacity expansions as the plant has grown from $60M in sales to $180M.
