Background
About John Ristow
As a Project Manager, I worked with industrial, commercial and governmental clientele. I prepared and managed budgets and tracked projects as they progressed. More recently, I have been a Site Safety Officer associated with number of large-scale environmental investigations and remedial construction projects. I managed the day to day safety systems and programs to meet corporate and client requirements of all personnel associated with the project t; including morning, mid-day and end of day safety meetings, personal protective equipment inventories, equipment and vehicle inspections, and worker training certifications. I also performed daily safety audits of the different tasks occurring. As a Senior Geologist, I have gained extensive technical experience and expertise collecting soil, rock core, groundwater, surface water, sediments, soil gas, vapor intrusion and air samples. I have worked with many different types of drilling (direct push, hollow-stem auger, sonic, mud rotary, and air rotary), and have even drilled on barges in ponds. I have collected groundwater samples using 3-volume purge methods (bailer and pump), low-flow purging and passive diffusion bags. I have also installed and collected soil gas and indoor air samples to evaluate vapor intrusion. My hydrogeological experience includes planning, preparing, overseeing, and evaluating several large (3 to 10 day; 1,500 gpm to 3,500 gpm) aquifer tests to evaluate the groundwater supply to aid in the preparation of groundwater models or to evaluate the groundwater conditions in preparation to dewater an area for construction purposes. My site investigation experience has allowed me to participate in the evaluation, selection and implementation of a variety of remedial measures including dig and haul operations, pump and treat systems, passive and active LNAPL removal systems, soil vapor extraction/air sparging (SVE/AS) systems, permeable reactive barriers, chemical injections and phytoremediation.
