Engineering problems are under-defined, there are many solutions, good, bad, and indifferent. The art is to arrive at a good solution. This is a creative activity, involving imagination, intuition, and deliberate choice- Ove Arup If your wondering who Sir Arup is, he founded the Arup corporation and is responsible for the design of the Sydney Opera House. His work and success are inspiring, and the quote above is incisive. When I think about his words, I realize that I have spent much of my career bringing clarity to otherwise undefined circumstances. This brings me to my current role: I guide people to the right technical solutions for their automation systems by understanding their end goals and working backward toward a solution. Clarity is priceless, and, as an engineer, I am a dealer in clarity. As with my current role, my past roles have all centered on taking complex information and turning it into effective designs, whether that be a powerline or a purge/pressurized system. I love bringing understanding to people and sharing knowledge as well. I seek now to connect with others and share insights about the systems and equipment that they need to achieve their goals. I am a teacher at heart and am pleased to help those who want to learn.
