About John Robinson

I am a member of the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology at the University of York. Previously I was the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Teaching, Learning and Students, and a member of the University Executive Board, and earlier I held other management roles including Head of the Department of Electronics. Except for five years in industry, my career has been as a faculty member (academic) in universities in Canada and the UK. I am an engineer, and have contributed designs to electronic hardware and software products alongside research in image and video processing, machine learning and augmented environments. I'm a professional engineer registered in Ontario, a chartered engineer and fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a principal fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of various other professional and learned societies. My second novel, Ghost Notes, is a murder mystery / whodunnit / howdunnit / whydunnit set in a Scottish Castle. It's laced with suspicious characters, twists and red herrings for lovers of classic mysteries, yet breezily twenty-first century.
