Having retired from a 25-year career in Occupational Safety and Health for General Motors and as Assistant Director in the UAW Health and Safety Department for 7 years, Mr. Rupp continues his efforts to directly assist employers and workers in improving and maintaining safe workplaces through his consulting practice. His areas of expertise and specialization include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance; developing workplace safety programs; safety training; accident investigation; facility inspections; ergonomic evaluations; and safety program administration. Holders of the Great Lakes OTI Education Center Lead Instructor designation are experienced occupational safety and health professionals and seasoned instructors who have met qualifying criteria established by the OSHA Directorate of Training and Education and the Great Lakes OSHA Education Center at Eastern Michigan University. Mr. Rupp currently serves as Chair of the Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals for the State of Michigan. He has served in this role for 2 years and was appointed by the Governor and approved by the state Senate. The Michigan Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals has many similar functions as the federal Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC) such as receiving evidence, conducting hearings and rendering decisions to settle disputes regarding citations or penalties resulting from workplace inspections. Mr. Rupp is a sought-after expert in his field and is accustomed to delivering training and presentations at local, statewide, and national events. He also has a great deal of experience leading joint union-management activities and can apply that knowledge to a variety of situations.
