About John Ryan Davis

I have recently graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences, with a focus on cybersecurity. My undergraduate coursework allowed me to gain a wide variety of coding skills in Python, R, and SQL. Additionally, my coursework highlighted various topics in cyber intelligence, human-centered cybersecurity, and user-centered design, sparking my interest in the field. During the summers from 2015 to 2019, I worked at Transformational Securities, a defense contractor based in Columbia, Maryland. During my tenure, I had various duties including the assembly and test of antennas and wireless sensors for use by the government and commercial counter-intelligence. This was my first experience in the cyber world and it gave me an early view of how contractors work. This past summer, I interned for ScoreBreak Inc, a patented technology company focusing on data analysis and statistics to improve athletic performance through efficiency. In this role, I was tasked with data analysis and managing hardware for use in live, game-time situations. I traveled with the Premier Lacrosse League across the country setting up their live feed for others to view as well as on-field reviews and maintaining a connection to the live feed. This job gave me great experience in working on my own as I was solely responsible for keeping all components working. I was also able to work on a database using SQL in a working environment rather than in school. In November of 2023, I started my current position with the Anne Arundel County States Attorney’s Office as a body worn camera paralegal. As a paralegal, I am given cases each week where I must break down the videos. This includes leaving markers for key points, making it easier for the attorneys, and redacting parts of the film so it can be shared to the proper channels. This position has given me an inside look into how the court system works, especially the discovery process.
