I am the Managing Partner of the Vancouver office and National Leader of our Firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group. In my role as Managing Partner, I oversee over 200 talented legal and business services professionals who provide excellent client service to Canadian clients as well as clients from around the world seeking business opportunities in Canada. As an accomplished business leader, I am consistently recognized as one of Canada’s leading lawyers in restructuring, insolvency, and bankruptcy matters. I have been involved in almost every recent major restructuring and insolvency case in British Columbia. I have represented clients across various industries, including cannabis, mining, forestry, real estate, aviation, energy, retail, media, technology, and manufacturing. I regularly act for companies in need of restructuring, as well as for trustees, receivers, financial institutions, commercial lenders, noteholders, investors, and other creditors. My experience extends to restructurings under both the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Canadian Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. I have conducted substantial cross-border work, providing me with a clear understanding of the United States Bankruptcy Code. Global companies often seek my advice on lending and remedy issues in Canada, and I am frequently retained by other international law firms for my insight on Canadian bankruptcy issues. My broad experience includes working with almost every industry, including my recent focus on the cannabis industry since its legalization for recreational use in Canada in October 2018. The challenges faced by this industry have allowed me to develop a particular niche in this area.
