About John Schmidt

Growing up, I was around sports my entire life, and I played through high school. I played hockey for eight years, baseball for fifteen years, and basketball for three years. Once I got to college I looked for a job at the collegiate level in sports. In the Spring of my Sophomore year of college I accepted a job as a student Equipment manager for the Iowa State Football team. There I have been trained in a variety of jobs. I have learned to change face masks, repair cleats, repair shoulder pads, clean helmets, and maintain a clean and functioning equipment room. After my time in college, I thought that college athletics was the route that I wanted to go down, but like many things in my life, it was a stepping stone to another pathway in my life. I eventually left college athletics when I left the University of Richmond. Understanding that I was completely stepping away from what I dedicated almost 8 years on my life to, I eagerly started down the my new path in life. This path led me to my current position at Lansing Building Products. At Lansing, I feel that I am 100% on the right path for what I want to be doing with my life. I also am exploring new opportunities to develop and enhance my professional as well as my personal life.
