About John Sergeant

I graduated from the University of Leicester with a Master of Geology degree in 2006. Since graduation I have been employed as a Geologist for Tarmac and have worked up through the geological career path to my current position as Regional Geological Manager (Midlands Region) I achieved my Geological Chartership in early 2012 and now have over 15 years professional experience of extractive industry geology, engineering geology and geological modelling.My current role is part of the Land and Natural Resources function. I have a lead role in the development and implementation of national and regional mineral strategies delivering on both short and long term reserve continuity.I have both a focus on operational quarry design and mining engineering to ensure the safe operation of our quarrying operations but also a key focus on the future to ensure long term reserve continuity of Tarmac’s mineral asset base. My role is also key in developing and maintaining systems and designs to deliver the immediate needs of the business while maximising financial returns from investment in the mineral reserve and resource portfolio. Specialities include: Geological field mapping and Site investigation techniques, Mineral exploration for aggregates production,Aggregate Geology, Surface excavation design: Land Survey Systems (LSS).3D deposit modelling and Computer visualisation, Quarry design and extraction scheduling, Restoration landform design, Mineral reserve/resource assessment.
