About John Serra

My experience in the University of Florida's Aerospace Engineering program has given me deep ardor for innovation and excellence in my field. I have learned to critically think and solve problems throughout my education. Now, I will need to go against the grain and challenge everything that I have learned in order to progress to a better outcome of my work. Aerospace Engineering is a revolutionary field that has grown tremendously in a short amount of time and continues to transform every day. This has made me eager to continue to learn throughout my career and stay sharp within the world’s greatest industry. Below are a few aspects of my experience that I would like to highlight: • Concentration in Aerospace Engineering and courses taken in Computer Science allowing me to apply computer science knowledge to improve and expand my engineering tasks. • Participation in AIAA Design Competition designing a light attack military aircraft using several aerodynamic software such as AVL & XFLR5 as well as SolidWorks & OpenVSP for the Design. • Experience with Lathe and Mill Machining as well as various manufacturing tools. • Participation in Hyperloop Competition Design Team using SolidWorks and ANSYS frequently to mechanically design and analyze the system. • Passion for Rapid Prototyping, Cutting Edge Manufacturing, and Innovation
