About John Shields

John W. Shields, CLIA, ARCSA AP, is the Director for the Landscape Architecture department for the Nashville Office. He joined Lose & Associates in 1993 and has become a significant contributor to the firm’s park and land planning divisions as a project manager. He is an excellent communicator who is conscientious about delivering his projects both on time and within budget. John’s primary responsibilities include landscape and irrigation design, contract documentation, landscape ordinances and zoning codes compliance, opinion of probable cost and construction administration. John has been the principal designer for Logan’s Roadhouse and Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores since March John has extensive experience designing master plans, landscape and irrigation plans throughout the country. From this experience, he has developed finely honed scheduling procedures that allow him to work on multiple projects simultaneously and achieve project benchmarks for each. John is currently serving on the Tennessee Irrigation Association (TIA) board as President and has been involved in the marketing committee trying to bring overall water awareness to communities. John has undergone testing and achieved certification for landscape irrigation auditing from the Irrigation Association (National). He has also partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense SM program to promote water-efficient landscapes and help consumers save water outdoors. He is also a member of American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) their mission is to promote sustainable rainwater-harvesting practices. John has successfully demonstrated knowledge of rainwater catchment systems and rainwater catchment design and construction and has passed the ARCSA endorsed written exam and field workshop process required to be awarded the title of ARCSA Accredited Professional or ARCSA AP.
