About John Spiker
During my 25-year career in the civil engineering field I have had the opportunity to be part of some amazing non-motorized transportation projects in Southern Arizona, both on- and off-road. Pima County’s Chuck Huckelberry Loop (Loop) is most prominent in my background, spanning nearly 140 miles of paved multi-use pathways encircling the Tucson Metro Region. I was fortunate enough to be part of several projects along the Loop to include planning, design, construction, and operations. Stakeholder identification and coordination for projects of this size are paramount to success and afforded me the opportunity to engage with other active transportation professionals. These interactions led to my involvement with the Arizona Trail, an Arizona National Scenic Trail stretching 800 miles from Mexico to Utah. Specifically, the Las Cienegas Passage.
