About John Thomson

With a background of over twenty years in the telecom industry in a range of activities from design of central office equipment to technical support to project management. The last 9 years I have been heavily involved in the Telus MxU program, initially within Telus as a member of the MxU team and more recently as a Project Manager for one of the Telus build partners. These roles have seen me involved in shaping many of the processes that are used to manage the MxU program to this day. I have the ability to create great relationships with peers, supervisors and senior management; both internally and externally, collaborating to define scope, goals and budget. I am comfortable communicating with building owners to make site visits assessing build methods with them, estimating costs and materials. I also make site visits during build to track the performance of teams with regards to progress, quality and safety, and acting as liaison with property managers and stratas to keep projects running smoothly. I have experience dealing with 3rd party contractors for out of expertise areas such as hydrovac trucks, locates and scanning, electrical conduit builds, coring and concrete remediation. As well as applying for city permits, traffic plans and BC One Calls. I am also heavily involved in escalations, ensuring that return visits to units that were not covered during the original build are fulfilled as orders are placed. This has honed my customer service skills as I meet the demands of the end user.
