About John Thomson

My interest in online learning has taken me from simple copy & paste to development, delivery and maintenance of online courses for businesses & institutions over the last 12 years. I have a passion for online learning, strong commitment to stay apprised of the trends and developments in the field of eLearning, and interest in universal design. Currently I have just completed a 6 month contract producing the Alberta Transportation (ODDC) Online Defensive Driving Course. This was a very challenging and rewarding project that was produced for both mobile & desktop platforms. The narration, audio, video, syncing, learning activities and assessments were created using Storyline 360. Previously, I had been working in the eLearning department at Grant MacEwan University as a Course Production Technician for almost a decade in the Instructional Media and Design department. This position involves entering and formatting content for online courses for eCampusAlberta in the Blackboard LMS and also configuring & utilizing Blackboard tools. I have also had the opportunity to produce quality online training material with Instructional Designers for faculty and students as well as training and moderation at Webinars for profile groups such as Executive Leadership in the Non-profit Sector & Muttart Foundation. I am now seeking a position that will make the most of my eLearning production experience while offering additional opportunities for personal and professional development.
