About John Thorn

I wrote my first sports book 50 years ago and since then have created dozens more."Baseball in the Garden of Eden" was published with Simon and Schuster in 2011. My writing appears irregularly in the Boston Globe, New York Times, LA Times, and New York Times Book Review. I was the founding editor of "BASE BALL: A Journal of the Early Game," a scholarly semiannual. Major League Baseball named me as its Official Historian in March 2011, a position I continue to hold. I served as lead consultant to the National Museum of American Jewish History for its exhibition,"Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Jews in America"; I also consult to the Jackie Robinson Museum. I have appeared frequently on television and in documentary film, notably in Ken Burns's "Baseball," for which I also served as senior creative consultant (can it be 30 years ago that it first aired?). Since 2011 I have written millions of words at my MLB blog, Our Game (https://ourgame.mlblogs.com), several of them good. Specialties: Writing, consulting, public speaking.
