I am currently a Microbiology PhD student in the lab of Dr. Alex Horswill at the University of Colorado | Anschutz Medical Campus. I am investigating the role of Staphylococcus aureus V8 protease in skin colonziation and disease through microbiological and biochemical methods. I previously completed my bachelors degree in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Madison where I was an undergraduate research assistant in the lab of Dr. Barbara Bendlin investigating the role of the gut microbiome in Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, I was the laboratory technician/manager for the lab of Dr. JD Sauer at UW-Madison where I invesigated how Listeria monocytogenes survives in the cytosol of host cells and activates innate immune signaling pathways inside macrophages.
