About John Townshend

I am an Electronic Enrollment Analyst for Delta Dental of Michigan, a position about combining technical knowledge of multiple data and organizational systems in order to implement and manage dental and vision and enrollment data. This job requires a number of skills, the most critical being an organizational disposition, problem solving regarding data discrepancies in member records, clear communication of complex issues to clients/TPAs/other team members, and knowledge of ANSI 834 data transmission formatting and systems. I attended school at Michigan State University, earning a bachelors of science in Psychology with a minor in quantitative data analytics. I was a part of the Spartan Marching Band and Spartan Brass as one of the top alto saxophone players. Highlights of my degree include involvement in the Adolescent Diversion program, a guided mentorship program focused on advocacy and resource connection for an at-risk youth, and diverse set of classes in topics including coding fundamentals, data analysis, scholarly journal comprehension, and research design. I am driven to constantly learn and improve on the tasks I am presented with, whether they are work related or hobby related. I deeply value great resources for learning new things, the process of iteration and improvement in relation to a project or personal creative goal, and critical feedback on my processes and outcomes. My hobbies include volunteering for the Lansing Makers Network, a makers space that hosts a number of different events, provides classes, and allows members to learn to use various tools and machines. Personally, I am familiar with woodworking, welding, casting, 3D printing, CNC router operation, CAD, CAM, Arduino based microcontrollers, and various coding languages, each to a different degree.
