About John Tran

I am a multi-disciplinary problem solver who graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1995 with a B.A.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering and Management Science. I hold the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and the Real Estate Broker licence from the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). I am grateful to have experienced very interesting and diverse opportunities. In my role as Professional Engineer, I use my knowledge to help architect, design and develop innovative software solutions for potentially difficult problems. In the past 30 years, I have managed software teams, architected software systems, delivered training courses, and coded many, many lines of code. I have created different kinds of software, for various industry verticals, including medical, pharmaceutical, education, food service, engineering, mining, insurance, financial services, real estate, and since 2018, film production (VFX, pipeline). My philosophy is,"if you can describe it, it can be achieved." I am a coder at heart and love the thrill of solving problems through code. I find every opportunity to keep atop of current technologies, in a hands-on way. I learned programming in BASIC and Pascal back in the 80s but soon fell in love with the C programming language. That led to C++ and later, C# where I spent many years developing in, along with Javascript and jQuery. More recently I have fallen in love with Python. In my role as Real Estate Broker of Record, I use my knowledge to help buyers, sellers and my brokerage's agents. In the past 20 years, I have helped many people, one referral at a time.
