About John W. Warren

I am dedicated to enabling new leaders across a wide variety of publishing roles and sectors, as Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Publishing at George Washington University. My career spans three decades of senior management experience in book and journal publishing, marketing and sales, licensing, global distribution, and digital content development. I am an experienced educator and university administrator, researcher and author of numerous scholarly articles, and keynote speaker, in both English and Spanish, at international conferences.As guitarist and composer, I perform monthly in concert on classical, acoustic, and electric guitar, in a singular style I’ve coined as Latin Classical Psychedelic. I have performed live and on the radio in several countries, am a musician-owner with Groupmuse, and a contributing writer to Classical Guitar and Acoustic Guitar magazines. My recordings are available on all major streaming and retail platforms. I am fluent in spoken and written Spanish and Portuguese, have negotiated and implemented global distribution networks and international rights agreements, and have experience living and working in Brazil, Latin America and Spain.My publications on digital publishing and metadata, an open textbook on extending impact in library publishing, and articles on classical guitar composition, improvisation, and other topics, have received more than 130 citations. I have delivered keynote presentations, in English and in Spanish, on topics including publishing's digital transformation, impact, metadata, and the changing landscape of publishing.I am founder and publisher of the GW Journal of Ethics in Publishing, organizer of the GW Ethics in Publishing Conference, and founder and organizer of the Student Journal Symposium for Literary and Research Publications.
